Jason grew up in Glendale, Arizona a growing suburb of Phoenix. Only his aunt, uncle and cousins remain in Arizona. Most of his family lives throughout the state of Colorado.

Jason played a variety of sports from swimming to baseball and soccer growing up. He also starred in many theater productions throughout High School, at Widefield High. His Senior year he fit in as much as he could as Editor in Chief of the Yearbook, President of Community of Caring, Swimming, Theater Production, NHS and many other extra curricular activities. 

During his undergrad at University of Colorado Boulder, he studied Economics while maintaining a job at Banana Republic and Cheesecake Factory...now you know why he has so many clothes and eats a lot!

After school Jason moved to Washington DC to become an Economist, but never actually made it to the field. He continued working for Banana Republic and at a DC accounting firm.

Moving back to the sunshine and mountains of Colorado was the best move Jason ever made. He joined the DGLFFL, plays volleyball, kickball, bocce ball, loves to snowboard in the winter with his mountain housemates, belongs to a book club, volunteers at Denver County AIDS Project and works in the Healthcare Tech industry. Aside from those hobbies Jason, and now Derek, share the enjoyment of real estate and own multiple properties throughout Denver.

Jason shares the love of traveling with Derek and tries to get out of the state (or country) once a month. He is currently working on his Masters in Healthcare Leadership and Administration at University of Denver. The next steps are kids and a new home!

Jason joined Denver's flag football league and immediately was embraced by the league because of his easy-going nature and his good looks. 

Derek was one of many that approached Jason at an after-football function and they had a quick exchange before Derek ran away. The football league is a large group of great people. Not surprisingly, Jason and Derek started to hang out and discovered they had many mutual friends.

Their first real exchange was a couple months later when Jason told Derek that he found him attractive...but that he needed to workout and get bigger arms. Derek responded, quickly, by stating he'd get bigger arms when Jason lost his belly. After that, Derek swore off Jason.

Until a fateful night on a bus bar crawl, when, with the help of a few drinks, all guards were dropped. The two hit it off and decided to casually date, without telling any of their friends. After people became suspicious, they broke the news, but both were in limbo since Jason had a month trip to Greece and Turkey and Derek was going to Australia for most of the summer. They decided to put things on pause.

While on their separate trips, they emailed and Facebooked one another fairly often. When they returned to Denver, they decided to pick up right where they left off.

After a year, Derek and Jason moved in together, and after 3 years they got an adorable dog named Goose. In October, a day after Derek's birthday, Jason proposed in Maui, while SCUBA diving off the Hawaiian coast.

The two are planning their own wedding with the help of many courageous friends. The next chapter in their life will be filled with even more fun and adventure than the first part.

They cannot wait to celebrate with you in Denver and Detroit!

Derek grew up in Warren, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. His mom, dad,  brother, sister-in-law and 3 nieces and nephews all live in Michigan.

As a child, Derek's greatest passion was tennis. He went to State his Junior and Senior year of high school. In high school he played basketball, was in theater, President of his student council, and Prom King.   He still remains very good friends with lots of his high school friends

Derek attended Hope College for his undergrad. At Hope he played on the Men's Tennis Team and was President of his Fraternity.  Derek's journey to CO started when he was a Camp Counselor at a leadership camp for 2 years.  

After college, Derek backpacked Europe for a few months and then moved to Colorado. He fell in love with Colorado and quickly made life-long friends. He became a middle school English teacher.

In his spare time, Derek is in a book club, plays in volleyball, football, kickball, and bocce ball leagues and shares a winter home with friends, where they ski on the weekends.

Derek loves to travel and has been all over the U.S., Europe, Central America, Australia, and South Africa. His next top destinations after the wedding are: Montreal, Brazil, and Japan!

Currently, Derek is working as a teacher librarian and completing his dissertation for his Doctorate in Education Administration. He is looking forward to buying a new home with his fiance to start a family.  He is in love with Jason and their new dog Goose, who just turned one years old.
